A palace in a needle park

Once again, a lowlife sleazebag has vandalized historic Iolani Palace in downtown Honolulu.

We don’t know much about this loser so far, but I can’t help but wonder if he was one of the palace regulars — the dozens of druggies who crash out on the palace grounds all day, every day, binge and forage all night, and leave behind trash and human waste

Sadly, officials have allowed the hallowed palace grounds to become a grim and grubby needle park and zombie zone.

This is such a terrible affront to Hawaii’s traditional spirit of kindness, civility, tolerance, and common decency.

Will we never learn that the failure to enforce reasonable standards of human conduct and address  problems proactively leads to greater problems and a loss of freedom for everyone?
