Hawaii Public Radio published a very interesting account of a teenage girl and her mother and their slide into homelessness.
They were ordinary people who experienced a medical emergency but had very limited resources and lacked a support network.
They were fortunate to receive some assistance, but it was very imperfect and very limited.
Their story is both inspiring and infuriating.
It’s a reminder that so many people truly need and deserve our understanding and our help, and that we can and should do so much better than we’ve done so far on this island that so often seems to be so lost and adrift.
