Mayor moves fast on Waikiki homeless

After a TV station reported that homeless campers are returning to Waikiki and copiously crapping under the lifeguard towers, Mayor Caldwell sprang into action with unusual speed to install new signs admonishing against such activities.

They’re not quite this graphic.

No pooping 2

Nothing like an election in five weeks to get things moving.  By some accounts, Caldwell is trailing and may very well get booted from office.

Will the latest moves in Waikiki be effective, and where will the street-dwellers go?

A city councilman’s proposal to set up a hygiene center for the homeless in Waikiki seems to be dead in the water.
